Romantic Candle Light Dinner: Dangerous to Health?
Paraffin wax carcinogens
Burning paraffin candles which are made from petroleum emit known human carcinogens reported in a study by in a study presented at the 238th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Burning a occasional paraffin candle is unlikely to hurt you but burning multiple paraffin candles in a small area, such as a bathroom, could create health problems.
Candles made from Bees wax or soy do not release toxic amounts of carcinogens. While they are more expensive, they retain the romantic ambiance of paraffin wax candles.
